Hygiene & prevention
Unhurried cleanings with the same hygienist each time, periodontal care, and a plan you can actually follow between visits.
A small practice for people who want the visit to feel considered — and who would rather book on their phone than wait on hold.
One chair, one dentist, and appointments long enough that nobody is moved along to keep a schedule.
We kept the practice deliberately small. One treatment room, one dentist, and a front desk that answers rather than routes you. Most people notice the quiet first — there is no waiting room television, and no second patient being turned over next door.
New patients get ninety minutes and a written plan before they leave. Nothing is decided in the chair while you are lying down and half numb, and no estimate arrives for the first time on an invoice.
A lot of the people we see have avoided dentists for years. Nobody here is going to lecture you about the gap since your last visit.
Comprehensive exams, calm hygiene, and restorative work that is meant to disappear.

Ninety minutes. Imaging only if it changes something. You leave with a written plan, priced, in an order that makes sense.
Crowns scanned digitally rather than pressed in putty, bonding, and implants referred to people we would send our own family to.
“I booked from the train. They had me in on Thursday. The room did not feel like a clinic.”

Claire opened VITA after fourteen years in larger group practices, where the day was measured in patients rather than minutes. The idea here was simpler: fewer appointments, longer ones, and time to answer the question you actually came in with.
She has a postgraduate interest in treating anxious and needle-phobic patients, and books them into the first appointment of the day when the building is still quiet.
Private practice, so there are no insurance surprises to decode afterwards. These are the prices new patients ask about most.
Pick a time that suits you and we will hold it while the front desk checks the book. You will get a text back, usually within a few hours.
The front desk will confirm by text, usually within a few hours. If the time has gone, they will offer you the next two that have not.
We are out of network with most plans, which is what lets appointments run ninety minutes instead of thirty. We submit the claim for you and most patients are reimbursed directly by their insurer. If you would like an estimate of your share before booking, call the front desk with your plan details.
Then you are in good company — it is a large part of what we see. The first visit is an examination and a conversation, nothing more. No treatment happens on day one unless you are in pain and want it dealt with.
Tell us when you book and we will put you in the first appointment of the day, when the building is quiet. Dr. Whitfield has a postgraduate interest in treating anxious patients, and we can stop at any point — you do not have to explain why.
Registered patients get an out-of-hours number on their appointment card. For a lost crown, a broken front tooth, or swelling, we will see you Saturday morning rather than send you to an emergency room.
There is street parking on West Elm and a small lot behind the building, entered from the courtyard. The elevator takes you to the second floor, and the whole practice is step-free.
